Boyne Writers Group was established in February 2006 to give those interested in creative writing in the south Meath area a forum for the sharing of ideas and work.
The group meets twice a month, to read and critique members' work in a relaxed atmosphere. Participants read from their own work, either a poem, short story or extract from a novel or play etc. and then receive feedback from the group. The emphasis is on constructive feedback in a non-threatening atmosphere.
Members of the group have had their work published in the Meath Chronicle, The Sunday Independent, Revival and Crannog Literary Magazines, a member was shortlisted for the Sligo SCRÍOBH Poetry competition 2006 and for the Plough Poetry Prize 2007. Two members were longlisted for the Fish 2007 International Poetry Prize.
One of our members won the 2007 Boyle Poetry Competition and got second place in the Golden Pen award 2008. One member got second place in the Goldsmith Poetry Competition 2008 and second place in the Dromineer Poetry Competition 2008.
The group was awarded third prize in the Writers Group of the Year Award 2008 at the National Writers' Groups Festival in Longford.
